Happy 2021-

Wow, it's been a minute since I hopped on here but in the new year I wanted to invest more time back into my blog so I thought, what better way to get the ball rolling than with a post to summarise the year that's just gone and write down some of my intentions for 2021.

First off, I hope you've been well! I'm not sure how many people read my blog or would chance upon this post but if you're here, I just wanted to say thank you for being here and I'm sending nothing but love your way.

A Look Back On 2020

I did a little journal session earlier today to celebrate the little wins I had in the last year (inspired by Rowena Tsai's video), and thought I'd share what they were with you.

  1. Working out has become a part of my lifestyle now instead of a chore. I used to exercise pretty consistently back in Perth, but unfortunately I've kinda lost that routine since moving back to Singapore a couple of years ago. Thanks to the combination of quarantine and Chloe Ting workouts, I now look forward to sweating it out a couple of times a week.

  2. I haven't gotten a fever at all this year. This one is pretty huge for me because of how weak I was in health growing up, I would usually get fevers at least two times a year. Thankfully I didn't get super sick last year and I attribute this to having to stay home most of the year, and being able to get the rest I wouldn't have been able to get otherwise.

  3. More family time. Since we were all made to stay home during quarantine, I've been able to enjoy a lot more time with my family and that has been so lovely. We've definitely created lots of beautiful memories with each other in this one year that I will hold dear to my heart always. I feel like as we grow up and maybe due to work or other social commitments, we start to spend less time with our parents and siblings. So this year, being able to spend so much more time at home with the people that matter was really grounding and healing for me.

  4. Rediscovered old hobbies. Having all the time in the world at home means having that extra hour or two to explore hobbies that I have otherwise brushed aside under the guise of "being too busy". I'm so glad that in 2020, I started painting and doing art again, read more, journaled and practiced on my ukulele.

  5. Reached 5K on Instagram. This isn't a huge number or by any means something to brag about, but I am genuinely blown away by having so many people interested in what I put out and support me in this journey of content creation. It's definitely a milestone and really showed me that the time, effort and work I put into my photos and feed resonates with others in the world and hopefully creates meaning and joy for the people who support me.

Hopes for 2021

My theme for this year is self-confidence and ease. Everything I do this year is to contribute to building my self-confidence and teaching me to live more slowly and be more at ease. These two words will be my north star this year, guiding me to create the life I want for myself. I want to be a more confident person and enjoy every day to the fullest. I will embrace a slower pace of life and be present in each moment.

---

Thank you for starting this year with me. I am grateful for you and have an amazing 2021 ahead x

Summertime this year is definitely a unique experience. After spending most of 2020 indoors, I decided to put together 9 cute outfits that you can wear even while staying in. Let me know which one is your favourite and which ones you've tried out. :)

First up is this cute cottage core-inspired look that's made up of the perfect white babydoll number, a rattan purse and a hair scarf/ bandana that has been taking over Pinterest and Instagram. I might add that a babydoll dress is truly the perfect summery piece for me.

bandana: uniqlo
dress: pomelo fashion
bag: from a market in vietnam

This second look is something I am so so proud of! Bringing together the 1980s shoulder pads and 2015 tennis skirt, I completed this neutral look with a baguette bag that's representative of the 90's. One of my absolute favourite looks to date!

blazer: pomelo fashion
bag: the mad theory
skirt: aliexpress

This is girl-next-door look instantly made me feel so girly and dainty. This stunning blue sweater top paired with a cute white skirt is the perfect summer look. You'll notice that pastels and baby blues are a recurring trend in this post but honestly, I just love this colour so much for summer!

top: pomelo fashion
skirt: moolola via city beach australia

I will coin look this as the perfect summer pastels. Pairing lilac with pastel green is this season's must. I love the way the two contrasting colours bring out the best in each other and it is just a really happy outfit. p.s. If you've watched my Spring & Summer Haul on youtube, this top should look pretty familiar. ;)

top: pomelo fashion
skirt: the closet lover

Getting massive school girl vibes all through this look! I love collared tops, and honestly would love to have a collection of shirts like this in all colours. But this creamy neutral piece just goes so well with my favourite Princess Polly skirt. This pastel green number with the little slit on the side just looks super cute. I accessorised with a matching scrunchie to complete this outfit.

top: after july
skirt: princess polly
scrunchie: supre

This is such a throwback to the nineties! I'm all for the neon/pastel colour-blocking. Cardigan tops are such a cute piece for the in-between weather and also, a huge trend this season. The material of this is so soft and really comfy to wear. I paired it with a classic denim skirt for a casual vibe. P.S. say hello to my little angel who's made an appearance hehe love her so much x

top: pomelo fashion
skirt: pomelo fashion

It wouldn't be summer without a floral dress! This gorgeous blue floral piece is so flattering on - it's really light and airy so it also keeps me cool in the hot weather.

dress: villains clothing

Baby blue is an obvious favourite this season. I know I'm wearing a sweater but bear with me here — this look would be perfect for a rainy day. Just picture the rain pouring down outside, you're indoors all cosied up in the softest sweater, with Taylor Swift's folklore playing in the background. The vibes are immaculate!!

bandana: uniqlo
sweater: adidas

The final look I have on my list is another cosy option for the cooler days. Again, we see my preference for blues but I'm not mad about it. I love love this colour for summer because it reminds me of the clear blue skies we get this time of year. I paired this cardigan with some fun white printed shorts for the perfect pastel look.

cardigan: cotton on
shorts: the tinsel rack

And there we go! 9 cute stay-home outfit idea for summer 2020. I hope you were able to find some inspiration and ideas for your quarantine wardrobe. If you want to see more of my outfits in (somewhat) real time, head over to my Instagram @lemielch. I post way more often on there!

hello~ i hope you've been well since the last time we spoke. something I've been doing more of in quarantine, as mentioned in my previous post, is treating my skin right and indulging in skincare. so I thought I'd share my current routine with you guys!

my skin has generally been pretty kind to me and I honestly credit it to my mum for teaching me the importance of skincare at a young age. I started doing skincare from ages 13-14 and began going for facials around that time as well. since then, I've been pretty lucky, only getting hormonal pimples during my period and oil bumps here and there throughout my late teens.

I'm now in my early 20s and my skin condition consists of oiliness around my T-zones and dryness on my cheeks if I don't moisturise properly. if you're also someone with combination skin, this routine would be relevant to you. :)

Morning Routine

Starting off with my AM skincare — I typically wash my face with water and nothing else in the morning since I don't want to strip my skin of its natural oils.

I follow up with either Ceramiracle First Light The Essence or Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner. I alternate between the two since they have different functions. First Light The Essence is a clean-label skin conditioner that I use to soften and hydrate my skin, whereas the Niacinamide Brightening Toner helps brighten my skin (as the name suggests).

Moisturising is at the top of my priority list so the following products are all meant to do just that. I start off with Aprilskin Real Calendula Deep Moisture Essence, followed by the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum and seal it all in with the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Cream.

Eye cream is an integral part to my routine as well — I suffer from dark circles, budding fine lines and the occasional puffiness since stepping into my 20s. The only product I've found to have worked is the Ceramiracle FlowerBerry Eye Illuminating Cream. I love the lightweight texture and how it hydrates and brightens my undereye area.

Finally, the most important part of any AM routine. Sunscreen! I am currently using The Ordinary Mineral UV Filters SPF 30 with Antioxidants. My experience with this so far is that it does leave a white cast upon application, but if you put on foundation afterwards, it settles in quite nicely. I was on the market for cruelty-free sunscreen and this was the first one I found. I probably wouldn't repurchase because it's hard to get an even application on my face.

Apart from topical skincare, ingestible supplements are a must in my routine. And again, I have to credit my habit and preference for taking supplements to my mum. She used to be in the nutrition care trade and introduced my family to the importance of vitamins and supplements for our health and wellness. Similarly, supplements that help protect and care for my skin are a yes for me.

In the day, I take Ceramiracle Invi-Sun Skin Supplement to protect my skin against UV rays. As the name suggests, this supplement is a sun care product that act as a shield from the harmful rays from the sun. I take this every morning even while staying indoors — being at home doesn't mean the UV rays don't reach you!

I follow up around midday with Ceramiracle O'Cali Nature NoAGEs Supplement to help with dealing with the free radicals in my skin. AGEs (Advanced glycation end products) are by-product of the sugar-digesting process. For someone like me who loves my sweets, I can't imagine the number of AGEs I have in my body from all that sugar. So when this product launched, I knew it was something I needed right away. This gives an antioxidant boost to help specifically combat these free radicals in my skin.

Evening Routine

Moving onto my night time routine, I currently remove my makeup with the banilla co cleansing balm but once this runs out I will be switching to a cruelty-free alternative (which is why I didn't want to highlight it in this post). To cleanse my skin, I use the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. I love how gentle it is on my skin and washes my face without stripping it of moisture.

Next, I use either Ceramiracle First Light The Essence or Innisfree Blueberry Rebalancing Lotion to prep my skin for the rest of my routine. Both products do an amazing job at conditioning my skin, softening it and prepping it for the intense moisturising steps that follow.

Same as before, I start off with Aprilskin Real Calendula Deep Moisture Essence, followed by the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum and finish up with the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Cream.

Lastly, eye cream. I never forget this step because my undereye area is easily what I would consider the "trouble area" of my face. As always, I use the Ceramiracle FlowerBerry Eye Illuminating Cream to hydrate, brighten and nourish my eyes.

Can't forget about my skin supplements! At night, I take Ceramiracle First Light Ceramides Skin Supplement as it moisturises my skin from the inside out. With ingredients like phytoceramides and hyaluronic acid known to be extremely hydrating, I honestly think it has helped so much with keeping my skin bouncy and supple.

---

And this is it to my current skincare routine. I hope you were able to discover something new and helpful! Let me know if you end up trying out any of the products mentioned. Take care and I'll see you in the soon :) x

Hey guys -

I hope you're all staying well, staying safe and doing okay. The past few weeks have been wild and with most of us now staying home, I thought I'd share a couple of ideas for things you can do while being indoors. To all the essential workers, my heart goes out to you and your families and we're all grateful for the sacrifices you've made.

For the rest of us, I hope staying home has allowed you time to rest, take care of yourselves and spend quality time with the people you live with.

I've been isolating with my family for the past 2 weeks and it has been a much needed breather and down time for someone like me who's almost always on-the-go. It's especially wonderful that I now get to spend more time with my grandparents (whom we live with) and Snowie. I see this time as a gift, to be able to keep my grandparents company, cuddle with my doggo all day and hang out with my family.

While I've been home, I've started doing things that I've been meaning to get around to and it's felt so good to do things with intention and not purely out of habit. If you came from my Instagram, you've already seen the 7 things I mentioned there. So here are 7 more things I've been doing over the past 2 weeks and will probably continue doing for the next month and a half. I hope it gives you some inspiration in creating your own stay home routine too.

1. Get ample rest

As cliche as it sounds, being able to rest well is important. I feel like I've been getting the most amount of quality rest in the last 2 weeks than I've been getting for the past 10 years. Taking this time to fully recharge and get that quality 8 hour sleep every night has left me feeling refreshed every morning.

Ever since moving back to Singapore and having to adjust to the pace of life here, my sleep schedule and pattern honestly haven't been the best. But now that I am spending all day and every day at home, I have started to allocate a couple of hours every night to unwind before bed and unsurprisingly, it has helped me sleep better and fall asleep more easily as well.

2. Exercise

Exercising is something I've slowly but surely worked into my daily routine. The excuse I used to give myself was always "oh, I don't have enough time I'll just skip working out for today". But now with literally, all the time in the world, I'm not letting myself fall into a slump and instead, resolving to take this chance to get healthier and fitter.

My exercise routine: I do my friend Zoe's 11 abs workout or Claudia Sulewski's 15 minute Full Body Workout and go for evening walks.

3. Journal

Journalling is something that I've always done on and off. If you take a peek into my collection of notebooks you'll see random journal entries from different times in my life. The one thing they all have in common is that they're all slightly melancholic, slightly moody but by the end of every entry you'll see me giving myself the advice and affirmation I needed to hear. Writing has always been cathartic to me and has never failed to help put things into perspective.

In the last week, however, I've decided to explore journalling a little differently. I want to make it something that I do frequently, rather than only when I'm feeling upset. I want to use it to heal, to celebrate, to reflect instead of only writing to vent.

This is something you can explore doing as well! It would be a wonderful thing to see if we can all become more in tune with our inner selves after the next 2 months.

4. Practice a hobby

When I was younger, I had so many hobbies — art and craft, lettering, singing, reading, playing the piano — you name it, I've probably tried it. But as time passes by, the frequency by which I visit these hobbies started to dwindle, and it was only in the last 2 years that I started picking them back up again.

This extended time at home has been the best time to revisit old hobbies and pick up new ones! I've been reading a bunch, colouring in my colouring book, singing around the house and even started to learn how to make simple recipes at home.

5. Go all out with skincare and body care

Skincare has always been a non-negotiable for me. I have a multi-step morning and night routine that I do daily without fail, which is especially important since I wear makeup almost every day. In addition to that, I've been masking every other day during this stay home period. This is something I haven't been able to do as regularly before but am committing to doing for the next 2 months. Ideally, I'd like to keep it up even after that.

Masks I use: innisfree Black Green Tea Mask, fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask, lush Mask of Magnaminty, sheet masks

On top of skincare, something I've been doing consistently is taking better care of my body. I've been doing scrubs in the shower, exfoliating my feet, and lathering body and feet lotion every night. These were things I did on and off previously, but since incorporating them into my daily routine, I can tell that my skin and body have really enjoyed the extra care. My skin has become softer and more hydrated as well!

Brands I recommend: Ceramiracle, Lush, Frank Body

6. Listen to podcasts

If you've seen my post on the Top 5 Podcasts I Listen To On Repeat, you'll know I'm an avid podcast listener. On top of the 5 that I recommended in that post, I've also started to listen to a couple of others that I absolutely love. If you have some extra time in your day, listening to podcasts is a great way to get you motivated and you might find yourself picking up surprisingly good life lessons along the way too.

Podcast recommendations: Happy Hour with Lucy and Nikki, We Bought A House by Claudia & Finneas, The Situate Yourself Podcast (shoutout to my friend Lina!)

7. Make yourself a feel good breakfast every morning

This is something that's relatively new to me! Having to go to work early every morning has kind of made it hard to commit to a good brekkie. Now that I'm working from home, I've been really appreciating being able to cook eggs, mushrooms, the occasional bacon, and being able to start my day with a wholesome meal.

My sister and I are planning to explore making pancakes and other types of toasts as well in the coming days which I am so excited about! I'll keep you guys posted on my Instagram stories, so make sure you're in touch there. :)

---

And this is it! 7 more things you can add to your stay home routine. If you haven't already checked out today's Instagram post where I share a different set of activities you can do at home, click here to get even more ideas.

As always, thank you for taking the time to drop by and I wish you good health and strength to get through this period. All my love x

Happy birthday, dear me!

This day last year I dedicated my birthday post to the 23 things I was still learning at 23. And now looking back on that post I've realised that a lot still applies today. Life is but a learning process, a never-ending journey of personal development. So many of the things I listed out in that post are a continual work-in-progress, and truthfully, this list is full of wonderful affirmations that would keep me going through difficult times.

So as I turn 24 today, I've decided to make this a series and share the 24 things I'm still working on. If you resonated with any of these I'd love to know. :')

Here goes:

  1. You don't need to be perfect.
  2. Passing thoughts cannot hurt you if you don't focus on them.
  3. Protect your energy — only share it with the people who matter.
  4. Remember to look back every once in awhile and applaud your own growth.
  5. Stop being so hard on yourself.
  6. You are doing your best, and that is enough.
  7. You are enough.
  8. Always be kinder than necessary.
  9. Good on you for being self-aware; but don't let it overwhelm you.
  10. A good friend recently told me: you don't owe anyone anything.
  11. With reference to last year's point 11: one year on, aren't you glad you actually got started on whatever you wanted to do and now you're able to look back on how far you've come?
  12. Remember, loving yourself isn't just pampering yourself on the outside. It is also acknowledging that your thoughts are valid and that you deserve the same respect you show to other people.
  13. Stop putting yourself down.
  14. Be proud of who you are.
  15. Everybody's journey is unique to them. And yours is unique to you.
  16. It's okay to be different.
  17. It's okay to have insecurities and bad days.
  18. You are stronger than you think you are.
  19. Keep on building that inner peace, so that it becomes unshakable regardless of the environment you're in.
  20. Stay in your own lane and look out for yourself as much as you look out for others.
  21. Keep being inspired by the little things, big things and all that's in between.
  22. Speak only of kind and beautiful things.
  23. You don't need to be afraid of the unknown.
  24. Manifest good thoughts. Practice self-acceptance. Surround yourself with positive energy.
I feel so empowered after writing all that out. I hope you feel the same way reading it.

From me to me, congratulations on 24 years of life, I'm proud of you. x

It's February 29 — happy leap year!

I have never been more excited to bid February adieu. This past month was rough to say the least, but with March literally a day away, I am so keen for the days to get better from here on out.

March is many things: the start of Spring, Aries Season, and it also happens to be my birthday month, which makes me that much more excited. I know a lot of you guys really enjoyed my birthday post last year on the 23 things I'm still learning at 23. With every year that passes by we continue to evolve and grow, so I think it would be interesting to look back on my feelings at 23 and compare them to what I know now going into my 24th year on this earth.

With this leap year entry, I'm going to keep it short and sweet! Just wanted to pop by to do a wrap up of February and get myself into gear for the rest of 2020.

If your February was a bit of a challenge as well, I hope that things start to look up for you as March rolls around. You've done an amazing job getting to today and I wish all the good things will now start to appear in your life too.

With all my love,
Michelle

Happy New Year!

This New Year greeting is a little late (I know) but I still wanted to start off this year's blog content by recapping how I welcomed 2020. But before that, I hope you all had a lovely New Years and a great start to the school/ work year!

The past few weeks for me have been pretty slow yet somehow in a blink of any eye, it's coming into February. I started the year by getting back to work (it's my 3rd year now as a Social Media Manager), catching up with friends, Marie Kondo-ing my mental and physical spaces, exercising and watching kdramas (just finished He Is Psychometric and it's so good). I'm glad I took it slow over the past couple of weeks so that I can be all set to take on the year ahead.

Here's a breakdown of the things I did in preparation for this brand new chapter:

1. Writing a Letter to Myself

I started this "taking it slow" phase of the year by writing a letter to myself, reflecting on everything in the past decade. From being 14 years old in 2010 to 23 in 2019, so much has happened and changed. I've gone through various stages of life, learnt many lessons and it was reassuring to know that through the good and bad I came out okay. It was emotional writing that letter but at the same time extremely healing. I would recommend for you to try it out, it may end up being something you need too.

2. Goal Setting & Writing Resolutions

I wrote out my goals and intentions for various areas of my life (health/fitness, relationships, career etc) and tried to make them as specific as possible. I'm a believer in writing resolutions — looking back on my 2019 resolutions at the end of last year confirmed how important it was for me to have that set out at the start of every year. I felt a sense of accomplishment for reaching the goals I set and also reflected on the ones that I didn't get to. It's something I've been doing for years and will most like continue for the years to come.

Source: The Paper Bunny

A little side track: The planner I'm using this year is from The Paper Bunny. The ones from them and Kikki. K are my favourites so far. If you watched my Black Friday/ Cyber Monday haul, you'd probably know why I love this particular one so much. It not only has the basic calendar and weekly layouts, there are also different activities sprinkled all over the book. There's a Goals page, Habit Tracker, Eco Bingo etc along with different quotes for every month of the year.

3. Tidying up my physical space

Apart from the first two points which helped straighten out my mental space, I also started donating, selling and getting rid of things in my physical space that no longer serve their purpose. It was refreshing to see things get cleared out and I definitely agree that a clean space brings about a clear mind. I never fully realised the extent of how much a messy room and affect our mental well-being but once I started going through and getting rid of things I no longer need or love, it felt so good and made me feel so much lighter. I've been starting to take a minimalistic approach to life this and tidying up my physical space was something that helped push me further in that direction.

4. Prioritise Fitness (Signing up for a 5km run)

One of my goals this year was to do right by my body and prioritise health and fitness. I've been going to the gym at least once a week and also signed up for a 5km run! To be honest, the only reason I was interested in this particular run was because it is an eco run and if you know me, you know I stand with protecting our planet and anything that supports it. So it was a no brainer for me to sign up for this one! It's going to be a challenge for me no doubt but I am excited to let this be my motivation for working out at least for the first third of 2020.

5. Read More Books

Last but definitely not the least, I want to make it a point this year to constantly consuming positive materials and information that will help me move forward in my self-development journey. I ordered a couple new books and started reading again after about a month's break. I decided that instead of just letting life pass by and simply being reactive, I want to take on a proactive approach to life and strive for positive changes that I want to see happen. Reading is one way that inspires me and keeps me looking forward so it's definitely something I'm doing to get ready for the year ahead.

---

These were the 5 main things I did to get myself ready for the next 11 months. I'm actually glad I took January as the time to prep and recharge; if you've been hustling hard and haven't had the time to recenter yourself, I hope you found something from here helpful and that it inspired you to take sometime for yourself too. Thanks again for being here, see you in my next post!

Happy last Sunday of 2019 and of this entire decade. How wild is that!

This recommendation list was supposed to go up prior to me leaving for my vacation but I couldn't squeeze in the time to finish it so it could only go up today. Nevertheless, I am so excited to be sharing these 5 podcasts with you!

They were some of my favourites that I've been listening to this year and ones I've found to have helped me immensely be it in my career, emotional wellbeing or just life in general. Let me know if you have other recommendations in the comments below — I'd love to grow my library of podcasts in the new year as well.

1. Lavendaire Lifestyle

This is without a doubt my top recommendation for 2019. As quoted from lavendaire.com,

Life is an art. Make it your masterpiece. The Lavendaire Lifestyle is a podcast on personal growth and lifestyle design. Hosted by YouTuber and entrepreneur Aileen Xu, this podcast shares weekly inspiration on how to create your dream life.

I wish I had discovered this podcast sooner! I only started listening to it in November and fell in love with it immediately. I love how Aileen breaks downs her tips for life by sharing anecdotes from her own experiences. It is a very relaxing podcast to put on at the end of the day when you're getting ready to unwind. It helps put things in a better perspective for me and really teaches me how I can live my life free of fear, judgement and negativity.

2. What We Said

Jaci and Chelsea are a dynamic duo who never fails to crack me up when I listen to them chat. This is one podcast that I've laughed out loud (way too many times to) and I know I can turn to to make my day better. They bring on guests whom I love, like Kristin Johns, Tezza and Cole and more. They share a lot of listener stories which make it so much more relatable and funny.

I highly recommend this if you're looking for a light-hearted podcast to start the day with. Here's a synopsis of what it's about:

Intended to inspire and entertain, best friends Jaci Marie & Chelsey Jade talk candidly about health, business, relationships, life, etc. You can expect the girls to be joined by occasional guests, reading friends' & fans' stories, & offering unsolicited but heartfelt advice.

3. Blogging Unscripted

For my fellow content creators, this one is a must-listen! Even though Danielle's uploads aren't as frequent, each episode she puts out will always be packed to the brim with information that will help you excel in your blogging journey. I always take notes when listening to her because her tips are just that good! Here is what you can expect summarised in a couple of sentences:

In this podcast space, Danielle is sharing her raw, unfiltered advice and dishing on the ins and outs of blogging in order to help you grow your brand. Driven by YOU, she'll share all facets of building a brand from the ground up including productivity tips, social media strategies, brand sponsorships, business hacks and behind the scenes stories.

4. Socialette: Bite-sized Online Marketing

The Socialette Podcast is something I found to have really helped me in my full-time job as a Social Media Manager. Each episode is usually around 5 minutes (which truly makes it bite-sized) and that makes them super easy to consume in between schedules or on a lunch break. I love love love the tips Steph shares on her podcast and the fact that she's Aussie too makes me feel even more connected to her.

Here's a quick summary of what the podcast is about:

A bite-sized online marketing podcast for business owners. Join Steph Taylor as she answers ALL your business marketing questions and deep-dives into the nitty gritty of online marketing, content marketing, social media marketing and marketing strategy for business owners.

5. The Skinny Confidential

My fifth and final recommendation to conclude this round up is The Skinny Confidential. Hosted by a husband and wife duo, this podcast has a good mix of everything which keep things fresh and interesting. I love the guests they have on — some of my favourites were Chriselle Lim, Jessica Alba & Cash Warren, and founders/co-founders of brands like Wander Beauty, Kopari Beauty, and more! The cherry on top of this value adding podcast is truly how both Michael and Lauryn are amazing at hosting, interviewing, always keeping things interesting.

If you're interested to know more about this particular podcast, here's how they describe it on their website:

The Skinny Confidential HIM & HER Show is like attending happy hour with your best friends. Lauryn & Michael have a conversational interview style to dive deep into a wide range of topics. Guests include entrepreneurs, experts & celebrities such as Gary Vee, Jillian Michaels & Kate Somerville.
---

And there you have it, my top 5 recommendations and favourite podcasts of 2019! I hope you find something you enjoy listening to from this list in the new year. :)

Hello, it's December again.

I personally am a big fan of this time of year because:
1) Christmas lights are up and everyone is in a festive spirit
2) The new year is just around the corner

For me, the new year always brings a brand new perspective and breathes life into my otherwise slightly worn out soul (from the routine that is being a working adult). As always, Ben and I got each other a new planner for the coming year to get us prepped for a fresh chapter of our lives. It's become a tradition for us to get planners for each other because as it turns out, we both really love writing out agendas and important dates in a physical book. I think we should have a shelf dedicated to our used planners — how darling would that be? :)

Anyway, I realised it's been awhile since I candidly write about what's going on in my life and also share a bit about what are some upcoming plans.

So this past month has been a roller coaster ride —

  • At work, we welcomed 2 new colleagues: one of them I've become fast friends with, the other, is a challenge I'm working to overcome. I chanced upon this month's mantra for Aries from @themantroco that truly resonated with me and reminded me that if you can't change your circumstances, you've gotta learn to let go of a negative mindset and embrace the situation for what it is.

  • With health, my back is *finally* at a better place! I went for my first physiotherapy session and I honestly wished I had done that sooner. The therapist loosened my lower back and taught me some exercises that will strengthen my core. It hasn't been hurting as much or as frequently since my session and incorporating the exercises into my daily routine, which is amazing news! I will be going for my second session next week and I'm really looking forward to it.
  • I also did a bit of a shop around Singles Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday and will be uploading a haul to my channel soon! Hopefully in the coming two weeks before I leave for Europe. It isn't going to be a big one because I only shopped for the things I really, really, really love or something that I needed to replace or add into my life. Being a conscious consumer has been something I'm really working on and I'm glad I didn't buy something just because it was cheap. :)

Speaking of Europe, I'm so excited to be going on holiday in less than 2 weeks' time! It's going to be my first time in that part of the world and I'm so glad we're going during the Christmas season — I'm just imagining the Christmas markets, chilly weather and everything magical. I will of course be vlogging on the trip and updating Instagram as I go so be sure to follow me @lemielch to keep updated on my travels!

That's about it for now. It does feel good to write about what's been going on, even if it is just for me to keep a diary of my life.

Thank you for dropping by again. x

I'm back again with 3 more cafe recommendations for Western Australia! Before we get started I just wanted to say, it makes me happy knowing that you guys found my previous post helpful. :) For those of you who haven't checked it out, you can read it here.

As a little cherry on top, here are some cafes you can considering popping by if you make a trip down south on your next trip to Western Australia.

Hummingbird
Location: Busselton

Ben was the one who found this spot when we were researching food options out of the city! I said yes right away because from photos the decor looked so Scandinavian with lots of greenery throughout the place. Hummingbird was one of the prettiest places we got breakfast at and I'd definitely recommend coming in early to so it feels like you have the entire place to yourselves.

We got to Busselton around 9am and it was pretty quiet, with only one or two other people in the cafe. The sunlight was beautiful that morning — just look at the little rainbow that was casted onto our table.

For breakfast, I had picked a hearty option complete with a Banana Smoothie while Ben had this gorgeous yoghurt parfait with fruits.

Like, wow. Just look at the flowers and colours! Not only was it beautiful, it tasted amazing too. It came with a variety of tropical fruits, granola, and a side of coconut milk. The combination was so bomb, I'd definitely order it again if we make the trip down next time. Mine paled in comparison but then again, I can't complain, I love my savoury foods for breakfast.

Sidekick Cafe
Location: Margaret River

We stayed the night in Margaret River so we had pre-planned to get breakfast at a nearby cafe. Ben found this place prior to our trip and I wasn't expecting much but it turned out so much cuter than I had expected! The cafe had glass windows all around, bar seats overlooking the main street and a couple of comfy sofa seats that went around the sides of the cafe.

Ben got a flatbread with spinach and cheese, while I got a ham and cheese toastie. Simple but delish at the same time!

My favourite part of the meal was the Blue Pea latte! I've never had one of these but I was excited to try it. A blue coloured drink for breakfast? I'm in. The drink was actually pretty good. I couldn't figure out whether I tasted the Blue Pea, but all in all, it was a nice to have a cuppa warm milky drink in the morning.

Margaret River Bakery
Location: Margaret River

My third and final recommendation is the Margaret River Bakery! We stopped by here for lunch before making our way back to Perth. The menu seemed pretty normal but boy, the taste took us by surprise — our meal was so bomb.

I can't remember what sort of wrap Ben got but I ordered the grilled chicken burger and guys, it was one of the best burgers I had on the trip. It came two generous pieces of chicken breast with a side of chips.

From this angle you can see how HUGE my burger was. I couldn't finish it unfortunately, but it was so worth it. The price point was reasonable as well. For drinks, I had a cup of Earl Grey while Ben went for a hot Mocha. I'll be going back for seconds if we visit Margaret River again next time.
